Josh is happily married to his wife Abigail Thiel and they reside in downtown Leesburg with their dog Odie. He is son to Phil and Elaine Thiel, and brothers to Joey and Jacob Thiel.
He attended high school at Heritage in Leesburg after graduation, Thiel attended college at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA and received his degree in Business Marketing and Communications. He also was a student athlete for the SFU football team as the starting kicker all four years and was named 2nd Team All-American Kicker.
Thiel has worked at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise for the Federal Reserve. Before being on Council, Josh formally severed the Leesburg Economic Development Commision and was a former member of Northern Virginia Technology Council.
Josh has always been a leader, hard working and a great team player. He coached at the high school level at Tuscarora Mill as a soccer coach and football volunteer coach, leading to an undefeated soccer season. Josh also helps high school and college athletes achieve their goals of playing at the next level with JT Kicking at Training, which he founded in 2014.
In his spare time, Josh is heavily involved with the community and it's businesses's as he believes they are the heartbeat of Leesburg and are what makes it such an amazing place to live. You can also find Josh every Sunday, attending Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
